IBM Recognized at the 2011 Kapatiran sa Industriya (KAPATID) Awards

Quezon City, June 13, 2011: IBM today announced that it has been recognized for Strategic Visioning & Partnering for Business and Job Survival at this year’s Kapatiran sa Industriya (KAPATID) Awards during the National Conference of Employers (NCE) held recently at the Marriott Hotel, Pasay City where President Benigno S. Aquino III was the guest of honor and keynote speaker.

The KAPATID award for Strategic Visioning and Partnering for Business and Job Survival was given to IBM for its strategic and proactive stance in dealing with economic downturns and adapting with the ever-changing rules of the policy environment, HR requirements, market situation, and nature of competition.  As a Globally Integrated Enterprise (G.I.E.), IBM shapes its strategy, management and operations in a truly global way by allocating operations and functions anywhere in the world based on the right cost, the right skills, and the right business environment, integrating these operations horizontally and globally.

“IBM’s Centennial is ultimately about making the world work better.  As a company, IBM has continued to reinvent itself as a modern corporation the past 100 years through best practices anchored on its beliefs and values.  Our strategic visioning is best epitomized when we shifted to a globally-integrated enterprise business model, where work flows where it can best be done- based on the right talent, cost, and business environment. We continue to collaborate and form strategic partnerships with local clients and industry leaders to help realize our shared aspirations of having a better and smarter Philippines in the near future,” said James Velasquez, Country General Manager of IBM Philippines.

Organized by the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), the KAPATID Awards is a biennial award which recognizes companies with the best workplace practices in the areas of: Industrial Peace & Harmony, Quality & Productivity, Social Accountability, and Strategic Visioning & Partnership.
