IBM Helps ThreeSixty Pharmacy Expand Operations

"Technology Solutions to Increase Productivity, Reduce Administrative and Support Costs "

IBM (NYSE:IBM) and ThreeSixty Pharmacy have announced that a recent strategic agreement has seen the retail and wholesale pharmaceutical company reduce its administrative and support costs.
Seeking a robust and scalable storage environment, ThreeSixty Pharmacy selected IBM Storwize V7000 Unified Disk System and the IBM Tivoli Storage Flash Copy Manager to streamline its operations to support its expansion plan.

ThreeSixty Pharmacy is a retail pharmacy company based in Cebu City that offers branded and generic medicines.  The company operates around 60 retail branches located within the Visayas region, with plans to open more than 360 branches regionally within the next nine years.

Prior to implementing the solution, ThreeSixty Pharmacy lacked capacity to store the increasing amount of database information it was collecting and its existing infrastructure did not meet best practices or provide scalability options toward meeting future Information Technology (IT) and business challenges. ThreeSixty Pharmacy required a more robust storage infrastructure system to support its expansion plans.

“Smart use of technology will enable the successful execution of our aggressive expansion plans.  We were looking for market proven solutions and selected IBM based on their global expertise in providing intuitive technology solutions,” said Antonio Yap, President, ThreeSixty Pharmacy.  “This solution enables us to address our operating and IT challenges and allowed us to respond rapidly to business and market changes.”

As part of its geographic expansion initiatives, IBM is actively expanding its business operations in the Philippines and other ASEAN countries where storage is emerging as one of the sectors driving IT growth in fast-growing economies across the region.

In the Philippines, IBM is already working with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to establish the first Philippine Systems & Technology R&D Laboratory to help spur economic growth in the country.

“To achieve and support rapid business growth, there is a need for effective tools to manage the increasing data requirements faced by large and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).  The old ways of buying and managing storage have also become less effective.  We are pleased that ThreeSixty Pharmacy has chosen IBM to optimize and simplify their infrastructure, in line with their ongoing expansion plans,” said Chestnut Andaya, Country Manager for General Business, IBM Philippines.  “Our solution, a combination of IBM hardware and software will provide a long-term strategic IT investment.”

ThreeSixty Pharmacy engaged IBM Business Partners MSI-ECS Philippines and Cebu A.I. Logic, Inc. to implement the IBM System Storage V7000 Unified Disk System that brings efficiency and simplicity to data storage and the IBM Tivoli Storage Flash Copy Manager helps ThreeSixty Pharmacy to fully utilize various hardware capabilities including high levels of data protection for business-critical databases and data reduction capabilities, with simplified management.

For maintenance and support of its new storage infrastructure system, the company also signed a three-year, 24x7 contract with IBM Global Technology Services, where IBM’s expert maintenance services can help simplify management, cut costs and boost performance by leveraging these onsite and remote hardware maintenance services.

The project started in February 2012 and was successfully implemented in March 2012.

Kids Gift Moms With Clean Hands On Mother's Day

Safeguard gave kids an awesome idea for Mother’s Day. The anti-bacterial soap brand came up with the Mother’s Day Hand Card Activity that would allow moms to receive the one thing every mother is sure to want – their kids’ good health.

Over at CCF Eastwood Sunday School in Quezon City, a Safeguard Hand Card Kit was given to the students. It was filled with watercolors, oil pastels, stamps, and Safeguard. Most importantly, in each kit were envelopes for the little ones to decorate for their moms, like they would any regular greeting card.

But there was a surprise twist! After designing the envelopes, the kids were asked to wash their hands with Safeguard, and then were instructed to wear their envelopes like mittens over their hands. They then presented their hands to their mommies. Once the moms opened the envelopes, which revealed their kids’ hands, they saw the message: “The best card you can give mom is a clean hand.”

The effort left moms touched and thankful. They also left with a free Safeguard gift pack.

The Safeguard Hand Card activity was also held at McDonald’s Sumulong Highway Marikina and Little President’s Learning Palace Manila.

Karylle Makes Her Sacred Vows To Miladay

Just like a multi-faceted diamond, singer-actress-TV host Karylle has sparkled all the more after overcoming challenges over the years. Throughout those hard times, her class, sophistication, and inner beauty shone brightest making her the perfect choice to be the famed and trusted jewelry brand Miladay’s first-ever celebrity endorser.

“Just like the history of Miladay, Karylle’s life is composed of inspiring tales of love,” says Christine Dayrit, one of the owners of Miladay. “This makes her the perfect choice to be the face of ‘Miladay Today’.”

As brand ambassador, Karylle jumpstarts the 46-year-old jewelry company’s empowering campaign – Miladay Today. In this campaign, Karylle appears in an AVP titled “Sacred Vows,” where she empowers one to make inspired vows to one’s self.

“Sacred Vows” is directed by award-winning director Mark Meily. The cinematography is done by award-winning cinematographer Carlo Mendoza (Asiong Salonga), a former classmate of Karylle at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Karylle explains, “It is like being engaged to yourself. It is a brilliant concept that aims to inspire and remind people that loving one’s self is the ultimate key to one’s happiness. At this day and age, one does not need someone else to give one an engagement ring or a dream diamond or any precious jewels for that matter. It’s the best gift of love you can give yourself. I am so happy to be part of this campaign and of this trusted brand.”

Miladay Today is a part of the Dayrits’ effort to fulfill founder Mila Salgado-Dayrit’s dream of each Filipino having a Miladay piece, no matter how small.

“This is such a big honor to have been chosen by Miladay to be its first celebrity endorser,” says a giggly Karylle. “The brand stands for so many good and beautiful  things—trust, love, integrity—and I am so excited to be its brand ambassador.”

Christine Dayrit notes Karylle’s achievements as the primary reason why the singer-actress was chosen as brand ambassador.

Karylle has just received international acclaims for her work in the TV series The Kitchen Musical. She is currently a part of the noontime show Showtime and the Sunday variety show ASAP 2012. Her latest album Roadtrip, which she personally produced, has just turned Gold.

More than these achievements as a performer, Karylle’s golden heart is simply her biggest achievement. For the past years, she played an active role in supporting Child Haus, White Cross Children’s Home, and the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).

PAWS is a volunteer-based non-government organization whose goal is to prevent animal cruelty through education, animal sheltering and advocacy. While, Child Haus is a temporary shelter for indigent patients from the different provinces who have cancer or other dreaded diseases and have no place to stay in Metro Manila while undergoing medical evaluation or treatment. White Cross Children's Home, on the other hand, is a child welfare institution catering to the children of parents with tuberculosis.

“My mom’s passion for local culture, love for her loyal workforce and gifted goldsmiths gave birth to Miladay’s collection, a showcase of Filipino artistry through beautifully handcrafted jewelry,” says Chrstine. “The legacy left by my parents continues to be our inspiration to make the Miladay brand bigger, more trusted.”

True enough, Miladay was named one of the country’s “Trusted Brands” in 2006 and 2007 by the nationwide survey of the Reader’s Digest. It also garnered the prestigious “Retailers Award” in 2007 given by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Philippine Retailers Association.

Christine adds that her parents have imparted to them important business principles that they strictly uphold—honesty, integrity and reliability.

The success of Miladay, more than just being an entrepreneurial victory, is a beautiful tale of love – for God, of parents to children, children to parents, employers to employees, brand to consumers.

According to Christine, Miladay has kept their family working on the vision and legacy of their parents. Aside from her, other owners/directors of the Miladay Jewels board are Michelle Dayrit-Soliven, Mark Dayrit, Yvonne Dayrit-Romualdez, and Jaqui Dayrit-Boncan.

“Undeniably, this is a family affair that we would like to extend to every Filipino and their families,” says Mark. “Over the years, we have worked hard to present to everyone what ‘Miladay Today’ is all about.”

Aside from the House of Miladay in Jupiter Street in Makati, Miladay has branches in Alabang Town Center, SM Mall of Asia, Glorietta 4, The Podium, The Block in SM North EDSA, TriNoma North Triangle and SM City Taytay. For more information, please call 890-6303 or 890-7738 or log on to

Filipino Bloggers Hub: A Simple Acquaintance Party

In the cyber world where all bloggers are moving-in has become more challenging due to different trends that have been born from time to time in every click and tick of their finger on the mouse. As the blogger pursue their passion, they tend to produce more effective write-ups that are based on their experiences, observation and even with their own opinion.

Today, blogging becomes a good portal of advertisement and online promotion because it can give a huge impact and easy to access information upon clicking the publish button. In just one click, everything went to life as it was being shared and like by others instantly upon uploaded.

Given that bloggers exist every minute and seconds in every social-networking site as well as in the blogging flat form. While giving the readers and other people to have the latest updates as well as entertainment in their web sites or blog sites. But wait a minute; did all bloggers who read other sites blog knew the author personally or acquaintance? I think, not!

Perhaps, some know each other while others tend to get intimidated or something as they see each other in different places. Why? Maybe because they never get a chance to be introduce to each other.
Moreover, the blogosphere in the Philippines is just a small piece of the universal blogosphere. Where is so impossible to know the person one by one in a particular websites or blog site?  And so, bloggers created an event that we called “Filipino Bloggers Hub Party” to get a chance to see, meet and know the person behind in every blog that we read, follow and subscribe to.

On the 19th of May 2012, 1:00pm at the Central Colleges of the Philippines, bloggers around the Metro will gather to have a simple acquaintance party with full of surprises, giveaways, fun games and raffles.  This is the chance to meet and know other bloggers, and this is the day that all bloggers will unite and promise to continue what started intelligently as to give people good, and balance information that people want to know.

To all bloggers in the Metro out there, we would love to know you more and see you in the 1st Filipino Bloggers Hub Party of the year!

Chef Hasset Go Bloggers Night At Il Mercati Food Bazaar

It was my first time at Il Mercati Food Bazaar in Metrowalk. Moreover, it was a pleasure to be part of another Chef Hasset Go Blogger's night. Last year was a blast on his 1st Anniversary. This time it was different but more fun!

I remember the live cooking demo of Chef Nando of Los Hermanos, one of the concessionaires of the Il Mercanti Food Bazaar in Metrowalk. I really love Paella and luckily, he cooked it in front of us and let each of us to taste it after the demo, it was very good.

Then the band Boyz Next Door showed us their skit, and they says that it was their first time to perform it live because use to have their channel where people can watch them. Next the Tagalog-speaking Japanese singer Aisaku sings the crowd with his romantic talagalog song which I forgot the title.

And of course, the most awaiting part of the event is when Chef Hasset Go did his live cooking demo. He cooked pasta using the products of King Sue, I taste the pasta because DJ Churley asked me to try it, and it's really great. This is the first time that I have seen Chef Hasset cooking some dish because as we know, as a co-owner of MedChef, they are specialized in Homemade Cakes, Pastries and Desserts that we used to buy in front of ABS-CBN.

In addition, he prepared his best selling Pastry Tower using ingredients of Puratos and have it as a game for group of six bloggers.  The rule is, the first one who finish eating the Pastry Tower and will shout "MedChef! San Ka Pa!" will win. Our team is very eager to win the contest, and we did all our best to win the challenge.

As the finale, a Cake Fashion Show showcasing us the cakes of Chef Hasset Go's who is will feature in soon-to-be-launched recipe book entitled Desserts to Go that are so pleasing to our eye's rump on the stage.

Oh, by the way, it was hosted by DJ Churley of 101.9 Tambayan and Ms. Kathy Solis of ABS-CBN and thanks to Mark Joseph Delgado for inviting me once again.

Chef Hasset Go Bloggers Night: The Il Mercanti Experience is a project of Mediactiv8 Communications as part of the completion of Module 3 requirement at the Ateneo-DigitalFilipino Certified Blog and Social Media Entrepreneur Program. This event was fully supported by Chef Hasset Go of MedChef,, Il Mercanti Food Bazaar and concessionaires, Federated Distributors, King Sue, The Maya Kitchen, Puratos, Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro, Chef's Garb, The Blounge, Mr. Jayson Carlos of GUC, Mr. Jayson and Jamie Sy, Mr. Bert Sy, Mr. Eduardo Nabong of Nabong Property Specialist and Mr. Gary Alan of Gary Alan Media.

Manang's Chicken: The New Pinoy Chicken

In a short period of time since Manang's Chicken made its more than phenomenal headway into the growing chain of fast food restaurants and had become an urban legend of its own name. Manang's Chicken has behind her over two decades of comfort food chicken recipe served on the dining table of the grand matriarch Marissa Gerodias who had in her employ Manang Linda from Bacolod who doubles as mayordoma and family cook for Gerodias children, grandchildren and house guest.

They called her Manang who whipped it up for all their family occasions. Sisters Jill and Jenille Gerodias team up and started their business as a weekend hobby selling fried chicken in a weekend markets until the cravings for insanely good fried chicken saw her that makes them decide to go mainstream food industry at the first Manang's Chickenin Ortigas branch.

The meal's sweet finish is a sundae made from premium dairy that comes from a variety of toppings. Today, another sundae was introduce which is the Velvet Sundae that everybody will love.

The long queues and positive comments that Manang's Chicken are getting from customers cutting across market classes and different age brackets including children clamoring for another bite of its sweet and crunchy chicken have more than convinced sisters Jill and Jenille that they will soon be a household name but a big stakeplayer in the mainstream food industry.
