EARTH DAY 2013 THEME: ECO FAIR

Year after year since the 1990’s, the Philippines participates in the worldwide celebration of Earth Day.

The Philippines’ unique celebration is that it is a coming together of government, civil society and churches to highlight the country’s environmental health and renew their partnership to work for the common good.

Since 1999, the partnership has evolved into a loose coalition called Earth Day Network Philippines with a Secretariat that directly coordinates the Network’s members from local government units to non-governmental organizations, from business corporations to churches and academic institutions and from big organizations to individuals who want to do something for the environment.

Through Presidential Proclamations, Earth Day has become a permanent environmental holiday of the country and has become a fixture in the national environmental consciousness.

For Earth Day 2013, the proposed theme is to have a simultaneous Eco Fair across all SM Malls which will highlight Eco friendly products or innovations by our tenants or by cottage industries/local inventors.

K.A. Antonio – Driven to Sweet Pop Music

When all is said and done, K.A. Antonio is a pop sweetheart. She is currently putting the finishing touches to her first solo album and on it she achieves a sound that is truly hers.

K.A. has always been a fan of music. But it’s not singing that’s her first love; it was dancing. Destiny however, had other plans for her. “When I started singing, I fell in love with it”. Her first original song “Tanong Lang” (with her band AJKA) proved that she could be both a singer and songwriter. The song was even nominated in the 2012 Awit Awards for Best Jazz Recording.

K.A. may have started singing with a jazz lilt but for her very first solo album, she says she’s “back to basics”. “The songs (in my album) are really me.” For a self-confessed pop girl, K.A. says her album will be sweet, relaxed and easy to listen to.

Writing original songs and recording them has been an emotional rollercoaster ride for K.A. She was unsure on how her solo effort would sound. When she mustered enough confidence to start writing, everything fell into place. “When I started to write and record the songs, they all fell into one sound”.

A testament to KA’s creativity is this: she writes most of her songs while driving in her car.  The song “Un-Friends” was finished minutes before a gig. “It’s about best friends in love but they question why they’re only best friends”. In “Papansin,” the carrier single, K.A. played with the lyrics and inserted her brand of humor. “The girl in this song is telling this person that even if he finds someone new, sa akin ka pa rin babagsak!” “Beep” is a track that K.A. literally wrote while stuck in horrendous traffic. She suddenly had a music video in her head: a girl currently in mutual understanding status with a boy, fretting she may not get to their date due to traffic and she will never know what they truly are to each other. The album has also songs on heartbreak and guess what, they’re mostly based on her band mates’ and friends’ experiences. “Hulaan ninyo na lang kung sino kayo roon!” she jests. But with hurt, there’s always a silver lining. “For me there’s hope in every heartbreak”.

KA Antonio wears different hats: pre-school teacher, model, make-up artist, events host, wedding singer, student (she’s taking up her masters); and most-recently a MXY VJ. “It was really one of my dreams to be one”, KA muses. Her love for music, her bubbly and animated personality, her articulate communication skills, and her extensive experience as an events host,
made her perfect for the job. MYX has become like a music playground for her where she has learned to appreciate and love music even more, and “I had so much fun!”, she says.

With all the hats that K.A. is wearing, music is the common thread that weaves them all. From band leader, and now to solo artist, she says, “I am more driven now to do all the things I want”. On her first ever solo album, what K.A. wants is to write and sing beautiful pop songs. How lucky are we to hear them very soon.

Gyu-Kaku: Japanese BBQ Restaurant Is Now Grilling At BGC

I was invited for a store opening of another Japanese restaurant and opens to be the 1st Philippine franchise outlet. This time, it's not the usual Japanese Restaurant that we used to visit because they offer a unique way of dinning experience.

We usually saw hot pots in the table for a shabu-shabu but for Gyu-Kaku, Hot Grill is present for you to cook your food when you visit them.

Normally people go to a restaurant to dine and eat instantly, especially today that there are lots of fast food chains that you can choose.

Personally, I don't like the idea of cooking my own food when visiting a restaurant especially when I was hungry. However, I find my self taking pleasure with the fun of grilling when I visit Gyu-Kaku. It's like a small picnic with other blogger friends who are also there and I will admit even if migraine is attacking, I have a good time with them.

They served us Pork Crispy Belly and Gyoza, and I tried the Oolong Tea with others ordered the Green Tea and Sake. I observed that Japanese restaurants customarily don't put sugar on their drinks.

Anyway, after a few minutes the ribbon cutting, Kagamiwari Ceremony or breaking the barrel as it was one of the Japanese ritual took place and followed by the store blessing. We had a quick tour around the restaurant and tossing coins for good luck was amusing.

They served us Horenso Salad and the very surprising Kimchi, and the most awaiting experience is followed.

First the crew arrange our grille with a hot coal in it. One thing I've notice with them is that, they used to shout "charcoal coming" whenever the hot charcoal is on its way and they used. Then the grill platter is ready, it  consist of Wagyu Karubi, Buta Karubi, Beef Karubi, and Chicken Thigh Fillet in Basil and Sweet Tare as the barbecue sauce.

We put everything we can in the grill for them to cook while turning the controller a little high so that it will cook instantly but no, we are wrong because they said that it suppose to cook for 8-10 minutes or once the meat is not sticky on the grill then that's the time that you will turn it.

Next, we grill the Galic Prawn in Foil and the Assorted Mushroom. They also served the Ishiyaki Bibimbap (their version of rice) and I ordered soda and beer for others.

I'm very full and satisfied, and yet the deserts are delivered our table. Who will say no to Egg pudding in Brown Sugar with soybean powder on top and to Assorted Ice Cream, and mixed fruits.

I love the egg pudding as well as the Gyu-kaku Ice Cream the white one on the right end, its vanilla ice cream with soybean powder and sugar syrup. It's a two thumbs up!

I will definitely bring my family in Gyu-kaku and will recommend it to all my friends for it's another fun experience to dine in there that they must try.

Visit Gyu-kaku at W Global Center, 30th Street corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

I Just Won A McCormick Grilling Kit!

Last March, I joined the Nuffnang Philippines, McCormick Grill Nation Contest and I have post the article about Take Your Grilling Flavor to the next level which I've said that we used to grill at the back of the house sometimes during Sunday.

I just read the email from Nuffnang Philippines and so nice to know that I am one of the winners. I was so excited to have my McCormick Grilling Kit from Nuffnang Philippines and McCormick so that I can now enjoy the grilling time with my family even not weekends or Sunday afternoon.

McCormick Grill Nation will surely be fun and exciting especially for person like me who don't have much experience in cooking. With McCormick Grill mates, I know for sure that Barbecue time will never be the same.

I hope that in my grilling kit, there is also the McCormick Grill Mates Cajun Seasoning Mix for I want to try it with my BBQ. I want to try the  taste New Orleans.

Thanks to Nuffnang Philippines and McCormick for choosing me as one of the winners and congratulations to the other winners.

The Evolution of Timeframe

Timeframe Media Company was officially established in 2002 by RJ Samson, a graduate from Ateneo de Manila University, who dove head first into then growing audio-video production industry. It humbly found its base in Katipunan Road in Quezon City, offering its video editing services to students. However, it dreamt more than its means and delivered beyond its capabilities, extending its services to companies such as San Miguel Corporation.

With its entry into the corporate world, Timeframe Media continued to push the envelope challenging itself constantly and surprising its clients with the product the company puts out. The company pioneered the same-day edit video, now a standard in the industry. Timeframe staff created AVPs from bulky desktop systems brought around during events.

Never content, Timeframe Media began to upgrade its skills to produce stunning designs on print media in 2005. This spawned a new level of creativity and opened new opportunities for the company. The biggest opportunity came in 2006, Timeframe made its mark on the events industry with Universal Robina Corporation’s Jack ‘n Jill brand. With the success of its first event, it continued to produce massive events – from product launches, conferences, teambuilding sessions, concerts, exhibits and parties.

The next four years saw the greatest development of the company. Doubling its growth from 2008 until 2011. Timeframe Media focused on markets outside its home country, producing corporate videos for global companies. Then in 2009, Timeframe Media dared to invade the entire country with a massive brand activation operation for Anlene. Timeframe built a robust in-house machinery that has converted over 1.5 million Filipino adults to become milk drinkers and fight osteoporosis every day for four years running. Soon afterwards, the success of the Anlene Bone Health Check encouraged Timeframe to open up its activation services to more companies, from the beauty industry to other consumer goods.

Still Timeframe won’t stop evolving; it continues to clear the bar it has set for itself. And now, with renewed energy in 2013, the company enters a new phase as Timeframe Productions and Media Ventures Incorporated. Now armed with the vision of being a leading below the line agency, Timeframe Productions and Media Ventures Inc. provides innovative and excellent services in audio-video production, events, activation and digital services for our trusted partners in the Philippines and Asia. It has changed its face but at the core it is still the agency that delivers quality service beyond their client’s expectations, WHATEVER IT TAKES.
