The Beauty of Las Pinas City Photo Contest

Leed Inc., the developer of Paseo Verde Condominium in Las Pinas City, in coordination with the Liga ng Barangay of Las Pinas City held recently a photo contest entitled as “The Beauty of Las Pinas City."

It was attended by Dr. Ferdinand Eusebio , Head of City Health, Las Pinas City Reginaldo dela Cruz, Project Director, Paseo Verde and Las Pinas City Barangay Secretary, Leonilo Castro. Friends and other Baranggay staff and officials are also there to witness the event.

Paseo Verde Condominium as well as the Liga ng Barangay of Las Pinas City office pasilitates the said contest to encourage all the people in Las Pinas to maintain the beauty of city.

2nd Philippine National Barista Championship: Registration Online Is Now Open

To compete in the 2nd Philippine National Barista Championship, entrants must complete the online registration through the official competition website The first thirty (30) online registrants will get a slot at the preliminary rounds. The top six (6) scorers from the preliminary rounds will move to the finals and will vie for the most coveted Barista title of 2nd Philippine National Barista Champion. 

During the competition, each competitor must prepare four espressos, four cappuccinos, and four original non-alcoholic espresso-based signature beverages of their own creation and serve them to a panel of four PNBC Certified Sensory Judges, all within a 15-minute timeframe. Two PNBC Certified Technical Judges will score competitors on procedures, consistency, cleanliness and other technical details. One WBC Certified Judge will oversee the judging panel and ensure that each competitor has been fairly scored by the judges. 

Resorts World Manila is the Exclusive Platinum Sponsor to the 2nd Philippine National Barista Championship. The Shrimp Shack Degustation

One of my favorite seafood is shrimp... no wonder when a friend ask me to join a review for The Shrimp Shack I said yes instantly. No need to think but to go and try it. The Shimp Shack is an Hawaiian themed restaurant where they served different recipes of shrimp. From starters to their specialties.

There was this called Shrimp Popcorn who is literally a combination of breaded shrimp and popcorn. Then the Tomato - Cheese Fondue and the Hawaiian Chicken Salad with Water Chestnuts. I love the Tomato - Cheese Fondue. I can't stop munching on it that time.

Then they served us the Pasta and Sandwiches. We have a mini version of every serving so that we can try everything. We have Shrimp Scampi Spaghetti, Shrimp Po-boy Sandwich and U.S. Angus Cheese Burger. I would admit that I am a pasta lover and so their Shrimp Scampi Spaghetti is a thumbs up for me. I think they cooked it in olive oil with a lots of garlic in it and top with Shrimp. By the way, you still have to peel the shrimp. Which jive to their tag line "Suck. Peel. Eat." 

Their specialty are the Garlic Shrimp Scampi, Anugst Pot Riast Beef Belly, U.S. Angus Burger Steak or simply what they called "Loko Moko" in Hawaii, Soy Glazed Chicken BBQ and the Macaroni Salad. Their presentation for these foods are really cool.

Lastly, the desserts was served and who will not resist to crave for these magical sweet temptation. The Apple Crisp ala Mode and the Butter Mud Pie both ice-cream desserts and they both delectable but of course one of them captured my taste buds that I love most is definitely the Apple Crisp ala Mode. I get gaga to it and when I came back to The Shrimp Shack, I will definitely order it together with their pasta which is no wonder why so delicious because they are the sister company of the Old Spaghetti House.

Teddy’s Bigger Burger: The Anatomy Of Hawaii’s Best Burger

 The Hawaii’s top burger is all set to its Philippine debut on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Greenbelt 3, Makati City. The co-founder of Teddy’s USA, Ted Tsakiris gives some clues of Teddy’s Burger secret success. He says, Teddy’s is built from the burger, borne out of a passion for burgers.

It was started in the backyard cookouts of Hawaii-based founders Ted Tsakiris and Rich Stula who are both burger lovers until they decided to open a burger restaurant to share it with other burger lover. Teddy’s Bigger Burgers Philippines Executive Chef Kirsten Habawel, who headed the Teddy’s PH team sent to train in Hawaii.

Since its inception in 1998, Teddy’s Bigger Burgers has opened in 11 locations in Hawaii, and recently on US mainland in Washington and Iowa, with stores soon to open in California and Texas. The Philippines marks Teddy’s 2nd international location, following to Japan.

The secret of great burgers is the patty and Teddy’s stands by its pure meat patties. Their burgers are bigger than the average burger. They use the formula of 80% lean meat and 20% fat with no preservatives.

Burger sizes also set Teddy’s apart, with “Big,” “Bigger,” and “Biggest” patties. They start at 5 oz (Big) – that’s already a 1/3 pounder – and go on to 7 oz (Bigger) and 9 oz (Biggest) for our Original single patties, and our Monster Doubles (double patty sandwiches) go up to 10 oz, 14 oz, and 18 oz and its top with their original special sauce. The sauce is color yellow but it doesn’t have any mustard in it is an aioli that goes perfectly with the burgers and they use potato bun.

To celebrate its Philippine debut, Teddy’s will treat its first 100 customers with free Teddy’s Original Burger (5 oz.) on its August 23 opening day, with the first five in line to receive one year supply of burgers and other prizes for early birds. Line starts at 7 am in front of Teddy’s Bigger Burgers Store on August 23.

From now until September 3, 2014, mall patrons at the Greenbelt Mall also have the chance to win a free burger from Teddy’s by taking a burger selfie with either the Teddy’s Bigger Burgers store board up or Teddy’s Bigger Burger standees around the mall. A BGC Food Tour For Passionate Stomachs

Trying different variety of foods in a day will definitely challenge a food enthusiast and a blogger like me. I was invited to join in a different kind of tour which is the BGC EATS headed by Chef JJ Yulo. Okay, what is BGC EATS all about? It is actually an adventure of learning and eating experience by riding the BGC Bus and walking tour around the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. There will be a four (4) restaurant to visit and tried their foods and there will be four tour dates and not one of them is the same and of course with four different experts who joined the tour.

I was able to join the last tour which is called the Healthy Eats with Denise Celdran, I was a little hesitant because I know that she is the Edgy Veggie Café owner and she likes eating veggie more but she says “Carnivores need not to be afraid.”

Well as they said, eating is the best thing that you can do on earth. Savor the fantastic tastes of different healthy foods is definitely awesome. Did I say healthy foods?

Actually, you will never go wrong as always in eating good food. When I say good food, it’s the healthy one that you can order in a restaurant and dinning-in with family and friends. Why not? Because eating well doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a meal. As a matter of fact, and one thing I learned from Denise Celdran is how to eat healthy in a restaurant when you dine-in. She said, it’s just a matter of your food choices. Make your plate colorful, it can help you to eat healthy.

Our first stop is the SALO. SALO is located at the Fort Food Strip, BGC. We tried their tokwa’t baboy, adobong kangkong, kamote chips, and their rice bowl meals. The tuyo flakes and the kamote chips that they served are really good.

Second stop is the Yummy Soy, where you can have great desserts and drinks made of soya, I tried their chilled beancurd in dark chocolate flavor. It melts in the mouth and you will not taste the soya at all.

Next is the SUZHOU, they offer Eastern Chinese Cuisine. They served us the pancake with spring onions, special xiao long bao, kuchay and pork dumplings, sour and spicy soup, stir-fried noodles, and fortune cookies.

We are suppose to be on the last stop but fortunately it’s not because after PHAT PHO, a Vietnamese kitchen where we tried the rice paper roll-goi cuion, chicken satay and their very refreshing kalamansi juice, we go to what they called a secret place in BGC which called CRISP on 28th

CRISP on 28th is the best of the entire restaurant that we have been to, not just because of one of the owners who is Erwan Heusaff but simply because they served a totally feast. I droll over the brownies, cookies and donuts they put on our table while their plated Filipino breakfast foods is really amazing.
I have a fantastic experience with BGC EATS food tour and if ever I will be invited again to this kind of food tour, I will definitely say YES because experiencing this kind of tour for you will not only discover good place to eat but also good friends to meet.

Hannah Nolasco in Her Debut Album the Rising Star

Last Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the hard Rock Café in Makati City, Hannah Nolasco launches her debut album with carrier single, Peksman. The album titled, Hannah Nolasco – The Rising Star is a collection of twelve (12) Original Pilipino Music and where all written by Christopher Ramos Jr.  and was being inspired by Hannah’s happy coming of age experiences.

The album features songs of the experiences of a typical teenager such as having a first crush, first love, hope and thanksgiving. Her singing style is reminiscent of the young Sharon Cuneta. 

Her musical influences aside from her papa are Sharon Cuneta, Sarah Geronimo, Leah Salongga, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift among others.

Kamuning Bakery: Bringing Back The History Of Its Breads

 Kamuning Bakery was one of the Oldest authentic pugon or wood-fire oven bakery and the very first bakery to open in Quezon City. It was established in 1939 by Atty. Leticia “Letty” Bonifacio Javier, with her husband Lt. It was said that the bakery is not just the old bread store where you can buy and eat the traditional breads, cakes and old style Filipino biscuits. Indeed, it has full of story and history that remains secret in every wall of the store.

It was said that it was president Quezon who are close to the Alejandro Roces Sr. suggested to the Bonifacio family of Los Banos Bakery to open a bakery in the Quezon City. 

The signature bread of Kamuning Bakery was the Pan de Suelo, its crust is crunchier while soft inside makes it different from other breads.

I also try their Pan de Rizal, the bread where Dr. Jose Rizal used to eat when he was in Dapitan and other breads like cinnamon bread, pan de sal, pan de spania. Mr. Flores said that their best seller for kids are the chocomad and the snow white.

Say Aloha to Teddy's Bigger Burger! Yes, the Hawaii's number one burger chain will make their way in our country.

Opening its first store at Level 3, Greenbelt 3, Makati City on August 23.

Their signature fare of its 100% corned ground chuck made-to-order burgers served with a sweet and tangy special sauce and complement with their suer thick milk shakes is perfect!
