10 Boys, 5 Girls Top 2015 Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA National Training Camp

Four Alaska Power Campers, two from the Manila Regional Selection Camp and one each from regional selection camps held in Biñan, Baguio, Davao and Bacolod are the new Jr. NBA All-Stars of  Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Philippines 2015 presented by Alaska.

Four Manila girls, one from Biñan and one from the Alaska Power Camp make up the new batch of Jr. WNBA All-Stars of the NBA’s global youth development program.

After three days of basketball boot camp at the PICC Forum and the SM MOA Music Hall, Robert Alomar Castro and Lloyd Raphael Oliva of La Salle Greenhills, Luis Sebastian Locsin and Edrian Custodio of De La Salle Zobel, Joshua Garing of De La Salle Lipa, Miguel Luigi Santos of Ateneo de Manila, Ernest John Felicida and Jeffy Mailim of Corpus Christi College, Cagayan de Oro, Christian Allen Magno from St. Albert the Great of Dagupan, and Daniel Anthony Coo of St. John’s Institute of Bacolod have joined the elite circle of past Jr. NBA All-Stars like Kiefer Ravena, Kib Montalbo, Henry Asilum, Kobe Paras, Tyler Tio, Ricci Rivero and Lorenzo Navarro that are the new lifeblood of the collegiate and juniors basketball leagues.


Nelia Jean David and Micaela Denise Pentecostes of the Diliman Preparatory School in Quezon City, Kyla Flores of Parañaque Science High School, Luisa Krizelle San Juan of Amazing Grace School in Laguna and Heart Pagara Donor of Assumption College of Davao are this year’s Jr. WNBA All-Stars.


The ten boys and five girls will be rewarded with a unique, overseas NBA experience together with fellow Jr. NBA All-Stars from Southeast Asia later this year.

Also feted at the culmination of the four-month long basketball program were the new Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA Coaches of the Year -- Chino Tan from Lucena City and Shine Echaves from Puerto Princesa. The coaches will travel with and coach the All-Stars on their NBA adventure.

The following players received special awards for their outstanding achievements in the National Training Camp : Ernest John Felicilda and Nelia Jean David, Most Valuable Players; Akemi Marteja of De La Salle Zobel, Globe Sportsmanship Award; Luisa de la Paz of University of St. La Salle, Bacolod, Gatorade Hustle Award; Miguel Luigi Santos and Micaela Denise Pentecostes, Phoenix Petroleum All Star Players of the Game; and Miguel Luigi Santos and Kyla Flores, Alaska Youth Ambassadors.

The Top Ten boys and Top Five Girls were culled from a group of 50 boys and 24 girls aged 10-14 from regional selection camps held in Puerto Princesa, Biñan, Iloilo, Baguio, Bacolod, Davao, Manila and the Alaska Power Camp from February to April this year.

A crowd-entertaining highlight of the event was the third Jr. NBA All-Star Alumni Game between Team Nerlens (Blue) -- led by Nerlens Noel of the Philadelphia 76ers -- and Team Ruth (Red) -- led by WNBA Legend Ruth Riley. Starring Jr. NBA All-Star alumni that are now stars of national youth teams and the top collegiate leagues, the exhibition game showcased the talents of Kib Montalbo, Hubert Cani, Janjan Jaboneta, Carlo Escalambre, Lorenzo Navarro, Jarrell Lim, Ricci Rivero, Rhayyan Amsali, Thristan Laman, Patrick Ramirez, RK Ilagan, Mahloney Tarranza, Tyler Tio, Vince Ferrer, Luigi Velasco, Miguel Competente, Ichie Altamirano, Arnie Padilla, Cyril Narvasa and Vince Dolendo. Red won over Blue for the first time in three years, 88-79, on the heroics of 2009 All-Star Escalambre and 2010 All-Star Montalbo. The Mall of Asia crowd was also mesmerized by power dunks stuffed by 2013 All-Star Ricci Rivero.

Ruth Riley conuducted an NBA Cares fun basketball clinic for the children of World Vision after the All-Star Game.

Zomato: Bringing Restaurants to the Digital Age

The Internet has revolutionized our way of life by making access to information easier. Now, every bit of information is literally just a click away. With the internet being an integral part of our everyday life, consumers increasingly go online to research for options before making decisions, like deciding where to eat.
With this fact in mind, food businesses are now taking advantage of what the web can do for them. 

Today, the food industry is investing time and effort in creating and sustaining their digital visibility to promote their services and goods online. And because these avenues have wider reach, promotion has never been easier, faster, and more effective.

According to Zomato, an online and mobile restaurant search and discovery service, having websites and social media accounts allows restaurants to create more buzz in the online space. 

“If you are visible online, especially on Zomato, the searcher will eventually find you, out of a great number of restaurants within an area,” says Anton Ojeda, Zomato Philippines country manager. “By the time you’re shortlisted, it will just depend on the food preference of the searcher to choose you.”

Being visible in the digital space is like hitting two birds with one stone for the food industry. Ojeda adds that having digital presence does not only promote a brand, it also opens the communication line between restaurants and their patrons. “Being present in the digital space is not just about letting people know about your brand. It is about reaching out to them,” Ojeda said. 

Through comments and feedbacks, restaurants are informed of how consumers find their services and food. Today, because of social media, consumers can freely say what they think about a particular restaurant, both positive and negative. Zomato found out that reviews by food bloggers as well as everyday diners play an important part when picking out a place to eat. “Filipinos have the habit of researching about a restaurant before actually eating there, and they rely on reviews they find in the On the other hand, consumers can also give negative feedback through social media, which, as Ojeda says, restaurants take seriously. “In Zomato, restaurant owners can reply to bad reviews,” shares Ojeda. 

“You’d be surprised how seriously they take these reviews and how quickly they would take actions to address them. And even those with a lot of good reviews would reassess their operations after just one negative feedback from a user.”

Generally, having digital visibility plays an important part in the success of the food industry. It can either make or break the business. One just really needs to be wise enough to take advantage of its benefits, and use any negativity as a catalyst to make the venture grow. 

Building a restaurant’s online presence and promoting brands in the digital age will be one of the topics in the first local Zomato Restaurant Summit to be held on May 19. The event, which has the theme Conquering the Digital Age, will bring together restaurateurs and foodies to talk about how restaurants can level up their games in the digital stage. Victoria Court VParty Series Summer Festivale

We are invited to the Victoria Court Festivale last April 18, 2015 for their summer Party, held at Victoria Court Pasig.

It was a fun night indeed as we party with Victoria Court's Celebrity ambassadors, Aubrey Miles and Troy Montero. 

Food and drinks are overflowing. There are tons of prizes too from different games and hanging out with FHM models as we enjoy the night with the sound of DJ Mars Miranda, Ashley Rivera and the DJs of Beat Project Manila.





We also had a chance to view the Presidential Room, one of the themed rooms of Victoria Court and it was a good experience to see it. It seems like you are in the white house where you can have a chance to take a photo of the Presidential seat of the US President. Since it was a Presidential Room, it has a lot of doors and secret doorway. Of course, the room is very elegant and there is a Jacuzzi in the bathroom.

I'm sure kids gonna love it, I personally love the mixed berries. In my opinion, they should lessen a little the milk content of their milkshakes because it tastes more like milk in its creaminess but perfect for little ones specially this summer.



One thing I love to them is that you can also customized your foods based on them. So, if you have requests, just tell them or in the counter what you like and don't.  Also, the ambiance is so nautical, very homey. A place where you like to eat and chill for a while.

Potts Point Cafe Degustation Now Open In SM MOA

I love eating... that is why food review is so much fun for me!

Trying out the best foods in a restaurant is an experience to cherish because food is unique. This time I was able to try the new Potts Point Cafe branch in SM Mall of Asia.

They opening of this new branch next to the Eastwood branch is so great yet very simple. By the way, they serve organic foods and Potts Point Cafe provides Australian organic coffee and serves Australian food made by organic ingredients. 

So, let me tell you our experienced. 

We tried different foods that they served and even the food that they only serve there alone.

We have Shakshuka with Organic Port Sausage and Organic Egg with Toasted Baguette for the appetizer which is kinda sour in taste but yummy because it complements the Baguette. Next is Cream of Organic Cauliflower Soup with Truffle Foam which I also like because I never thought that I am eating a cauliflower. Believe me, it won't taste like veggie soup at all, it is so creamy. They also serve fresh juices and Shakes and smoothies.




For pasta, we have Salmon Linguine with Capers in Dill Cream Sauce and we have Roast Australian Lam with Bone Marrow with Brown Rice and Demi glanced. I personally recommend the pasta its really tasteful. However, if you don't usually eat lamb like me you will not going to like their Roast Australian Lam with Bone Marrow. For me, the meat is pretty though.





They also served us their best seller sandwiches which are the Australian Grass-fed All Beef Burger with Australian Cheddar, Pickled Beets, Olive oil Aioli and House-made Brioche Bun with Baked Sweet Potato Wedges. I simply say that this one rocks! hahaha, Love this Burger as well as the sweet potato wedges with parmesan cheese I guess.





And of course, for dessert we have the Strawberry, Kiwi and Mango Trifle with Light Vanilla Custard and Cookie Crumble and the English Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream which is so delish that makes them delightfully desserts. They also serve Delano Coffee.




The Ambiance is good but not too relaxing to stay. High ceiling with a modern designs with their best seller foods hanging on the wall makes it more pleasant plus they have great view by the sea of Manila Bay in the veranda outside if ever you like to dine outside. Their food costs ranging from Php180 to Php800.

11 Boys & 6 girls Will Represent NCR at National Training Camp of Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Philippines 2015

Eleven boys – one of them already 6’4 at 12 years old – and six girls will be Metro Manila’s bets when the National Training Camp of the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Philippines 2015 presented by Alaska happens at the PICC Forum and the Mall of Asia Music Hall on April 24, 25, and 26.

One of the selected players was just on holiday from Cagayan de Oro, tried out and made it. And for the first time in the history of the Jr. NBA, a 10-year old participant has made it to the winning circle.

Stacey Tibayan, 13, of San Juan de Letran; Ruzzelle Andrew Dominguez, 13, and Brevin Lyle Competente, 14, of National University; Edrian Custodio, 13, Jac Macasaet, 14, and Gab Reyes, 14, of De La Salle Zobel; Kai Sotto, 12, and Christian Allen Vergara, 10, of St. Francis of Assisi College; Vehnjo Maximo, 13, of La Salle Greenhills; Jessie Adrian Ortega, 13, of Escuela de Sophia and Ernest John Felicida, 13, of Corpus Christi College of Cagayan de Oro will join the Jr. NBA finalists from other regions in the National Training Camp.

Stephanie Villapando, 13, of Trace College Laguna; Akemi Manteja, 14, and Christine Jazz Ungui, 13, of De La Salle Zobel; Nelia Jean David, 13 and Micaela Denise Pentecostes, 13, of Diliman Preparatory School; and Kyla Flores, 14, of Parañaque Science High School will be the NCR’s Jr. WNBA representatives to the National Training Camp.

The seventeen finalists were the best performers among 519 participants aged 10-14 who joined the Manila Regional Selection Camp at the PICC Forum on Saturday, April 11. All participants were put through vitals tests, skills challenges and basketball drills on Day 1, with the top 40 performers being asked to return on Day 2, Sunday. The Top 40 underwent more intense drills and basketball team exercises on Day 2 and scrimmages at the end of the day helped coaches select the most skilled basketball players who also exemplified the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA core values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude and Respect.


The NTC finalists from Manila were chosen by an evaluation committee led by Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA head coach Chris Sumner and made up of coaches Rodney Santos, John Ramirez, Eric de la Cuesta, Christian Luanzon and Junjun Alas of Alaska, Louie Gonzalez and Ish Tiu and Melissa Jacob of Perlas Pilipinas.


“We have the tallest and the youngest among the selected players of the various regional selection camps here in Manila. We were impressed by this group. Despite their young age, they were good and amazingly confident. I think they will compete well when it comes time for the national selection,” said Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA coach Rodney Santos, known as The Slasher during his PBA playing days and a multi-awarded 

Ten year old Christian Allen Vergara – the youngest national camper ever -- was truly not daunted by the older, taller competition. “I will just practice more, drink lots of water and sleep early,” he said of his preparations for the National Training Camp.
The Manila Regional Selection Camp was the final one for the NBA’s global youth development program for 2015. Now only the selected players from the Alaska Power Camp are needed to complete the cast of 50 boys and 24 girls who will participate in the NTC.

At the NTC the ten Jr. NBA and five Jr. WNBA All-Stars of 2015 will be selected and will embark on a unique, overseas NBA experience together with fellow Jr. NBA All-Stars from Southeast Asia later in the year. The Coach of the Year presented by Alaska will also be announced at the National Training Camp that will be attended by NBA talents.

The G.O.A.T. On FOX Sports Premieres April 16

Short for The Greatest of All TimeThe G.O.A.T is a new magazine show that will comprehensively cover all the relevant and most talked-about topics in the world of sports.

The G.O.A.T takes an entertaining and talent-driven approach to programming with the aim of becoming the most engaging local sports program on cable TV, catering to both casual and hardcore sports fanatics. It provides sharpness, wit and humor that transforms conversations into opinionated discussions on sports. This weekly 40-minute show that mixes taped segments, relevant news stories, interviews with local and international personalities, and animated discussions on the hottest issues in the NBA, PBA and other sports relevant to the Filipino audience. Viewers of The G.O.A.T.can anticipate clever panel discussions on the hottest new topics of the week, featured in a segment called “Goatie of the Week”.



This exciting new basketball show is presented by four diverse talents who are armed with proficiency and expertise in the world of basketball and other sports. KC Montero is a veteran host of TV and radio, and has always been an avid follower of NBA and PBA as well as all things basketball. Suzy Gamboa, a radio and events host, considers herself a true basketball fanatic and brings a unique perspective to the group’s discussions. Nikko Ramos is a commentator of the PBA and has been witness to historic local games that further fueled his passion for knowledge about basketball. Mo Twister rounds out the team of four by serving as an offsite promoter for The G.O.A.T. and will give standalone segment reports mixed with his frank opinions and witty retorts.



With its engaging and knowledgeable hosts, The G.O.A.T. presents a fun, entertaining package of must-knows and current events that every hardcore basketball and sports fan needs to have.
